This chart shows variations of the golden shade.  The chart should be used for shade variation and not exact color match due to inconsistencies from monitor to monitor.

 

 

The coat of the Golden Retriever varies in shade from a light blond gold to a dark red gold.  

Our dogs vary in color from a solid medium to a dark red.

The best indicator in a young puppy is the ear color.  Most pups will darken as they age and reach full adult color around 2-3 years old.  As a dog enters its senior years it will also tend to darken with age.  See Blaze's Gallery for a good example of a puppy darkening to it's ear color. There are no light goldens pictured below.  The dogs pictured vary from medium golden to very dark golden.
